I liked all of the novels in Lara Santiago's The Wives Tales. Although all of the novels are written as stand alone, they're still related to each other because the three characters from each book are siblings. Some scenes from the Miner's Wife and the Executive's Wife were overlapping and although the MW is the first in the series, it could be the second. There are certain conflicts the characters face especially the women. It's degrading to be suddenly put out of work or hindered to finish one's studies because of the chauvinist Tiberius Group, the ones who decreed that women should be auctioned for a husband, stay at home and be obedient wives to their husbands, produce children and just be plain domestic and submissive in a nutshell. Set in the far future of 2070s, the Tiberius Group took over everything and went back to the old ages where men rule, and women struggle for equality. In these modern times, there's women empowerment and though not 100%, there's a significant change between then and now. In all of their stories, I felt for the women because they didn't have a say in things. They are voiceless, powerless, and meaningless without men. I hated that part, it gets my hackles up, especially when they're in court. I liked the first two books since the sisters Hannah and Sophie were both spunky and strong-willed. I Hannah and Brutal's story gradually developed and the author made a convincing plot. Conflicts abound where Hannah's geological knowledge was repeatedly questioned and set aside by Brutal, until she was finally proven right. Sophie's story I loved best, there's the unease all through out whether they'll make it or not. I wondered how much clout Matthew wielded to beat the odds against them. The obstacles along their paths provided a good avenue for strengthening their relationship on a deeper emotional level, a lot of truths surfaced, difficult to accept at first, but they learned to forgive and forget. Jonathan's story wasn't really comparable with the two. He wanted to do some charity work for Grace but ended up making her his permanently. I liked the paranoia and anxiety injected here, it what made things more interesting, especially finding out how they'll make the relationship work. All the sex scenes are high quality and top notch. I highly recommend this to those who're looking for the right amount of lust with good stories in it. Ms Santiago is an excellent writer and I'll read more of her works.

When the Tiberius Group took control of the US Government, women were stripped of their rights. They no longer were able to work, total control given to father, husband or brother. If they were not married then they were forced to be auctioned off to any male who would pay for them. If no one woul...more...— by Marion (Summer)
